Virtual Office Hours-
Thank you to everyone who participated in our successful open office hours via Zoom & the members who came to the office! Your questions—whether for yourself or for colleagues—help us stay informed and united. Many members expressed concern over the last, best, and final offer, emphasizing the need to stand together. Here are the main questions we received from members.
- Why does McLaren want to take away our penalty pay and overtime protections, and wouldn't these benefits be unnecessary if they staffed according to the matrix?
- Nurses are actually paying for their own raises. If penalty pay and overtime protections are eliminated, it becomes easier to abuse the matrix. Meanwhile, nurses are left to foot the bill for their own raises & give up any management accountability
- What Next?
- Our Bargaining Team and the majority of members do not support the last offer. It’s crucial we send McLaren a clear message: We do not accept this offer, and we expect the company to return to negotiations. McLaren has stated they see no reason to move further, citing their last, best, and final offer. However, management is legally obligated to negotiate in good faith, and our collective voice must insist they do so.
- Post-Vote Expectations
- If the offer is voted down, we must continue advocating for meaningful negotiations. We cannot allow the process to be stalled by the administration’s delays or dismissive stance. Our unity and determination will be essential in pressing McLaren to return to the negotiating table and reach a fair agreement.
