Update 1/19/26
Good morning Local 40 Nurses:
Top of Scale RN update: We were assured by the Hospital that RNs at the top of scale would receive their 3% lump sum (that supplements their $0.12 raise) in a separate check Tuesday January 20th. Local 40 learned on Saturday and confirmed on Sunday that the Hospital mistakenly programmed the bonuses to SEIU - another Union at Henry Ford Rochester - instead of our RNs. The 3% payment will now be deposited to the RNs on Thursday January 22nd.
Attached you will find the communication we received from the Hospital regarding their most recent error. Again, Local 40 provided a complete list to the Hospital on January 5th as agreed to in the new contract, which very clearly confirmed who should receive 3% bonuses. We are working closely with our attorney with this situation, though we don’t think the errors are intentional.
All RN Update: The Hospital has not confirmed how the retroactive amounts for the incorrect premiums will be paid. We do fully expect that the $3000FT/$1500PT bonus will be paid out on the January 30th paycheck as agreed upon by both parties. The Labor Board appears to be moving forward the withdrawal of the 2025 unfair labor practices. Keep an eye out for updates.
New Contract Book Update: We are all excited to get our hands on the new contract book. We expect to submit the final version (once the Hospital signs off) to the Union printer this week, and will have books within 2 weeks after that. The new contract will be uploaded to our website, Facebook group, and available for download once finalized.

Finally, This Wednesday January 21 is our quarterly General Membership Meeting and executive board nominations at 6pm at our Local office 46819 Garfield, Macomb MI 48044. You must be current with dues to attend, and arrears payments can be made at the office before the meeting. Dinner is provided.
