FAQ:
Does everyone get a book? YES! All 400 Union RNs get a book. Every new hire gets a book.
Can someone from my department pick up my book? YES! They will sign that they took it for you.
Can we send one person down to pick up books for everyone working? YES! They will sign for which books they take.
What if I can’t make these dates and times? You will still get your book….eventually. PLEASE, make every effort to attend or ask a coworker to get your book for you. We have 5 different opportunities before and after both shifts.
EPIC training
- After many emails and conversations with the Hospital, we demanded to bargain the effects of the mandatory training. The information they are giving is not consistent. We anticipate this will happen the week of April 6 due to spring break vacations.
- What we have confirmed:
- Ford is following contract language in Article 16 Section 2.5 for mandatory inservice training.
- Mileage will be paid for every trip to Detroit from Henry Ford Rochester to your training (not from your house). If you split up training over multiple days, mileage will be paid for all days. They will not reimburse for hotels. See attached PDF for directions on how to submit for mileage!
- For night shift nurses, Ford says they have Saturday and evening classes. Work with your manager to find classes that work for your schedule.
- Inservice time counts as time worked. If the inservice puts you past 40 hours for the week, you will earn overtime. If you work your 3 days at the bedside and an additional day of training, you will receive RNX.
- What we have not confirmed :
- If time for EPIC modules completed outside of work will be paid.
- If the Hospital will violate the contract and make overtime for this inservice mandatory. If this is the case, we are prepared to take legal action. The contract is clear that an inservice may be mandatory, but overtime may not be mandatory outside of an emergency.
- Once we have a bargaining date with the hospital we will communicate it. Every single nurse is impacted by this training and we will pressure the hospital to follow the contract and honor our valuable time.
- If you still have questions not answered here, please respond to this email or text.
First staffing committee meeting date has been set! Tuesday May 12th at 2:30pm. We can have 4 nurses attend per meeting, and it’s paid by the Hospital. If you would like to be on the staffing committee or attend a future staffing committee please respond to this email or text. We fought hard for this committee and our nurses deserve to be involved!
April Quarterly General Membership Meeting: Wednesday April 15 at 6pm in person at the Local office: 46819 Garfield Road, Macomb MI 48044. Dinner is provided! Please come to learn about OUR UNION and have your voice heard!!!
