January 16, 2026
Good afternoon OPEIU Local 40 nurses.
As you look over your paychecks today, you will notice that the new premium rates and bonuses we ratified were not implemented correctly by the Hospital.
-
Premiums: Shift and weekend differentials, float premium, charge and preceptor pay were not adjusted. These premiums went into effect on December 28, 2026 and we will receive them retroactively. The Hospital has pledged to make these payments, and has yet to provide details on if these will be in separate checks or on the next paycheck. As we receive more information we will share it with you.
-
Top of scale high senior nurses will also notice the missing 3% lump sum bonuses. Eligibility for the 3% bonus is based on:
-
If you were already at the top step ($50.88 or higher) and received a $0.12 raise on today’s check
-
Your Union position and FTE status on December 18, 2025.
Despite everything Local 40 did to facilitate these premiums and bonuses, Henry Ford was not able to make corrections to today’s paychecks. Ford has notified the Union that they have submitted off-cycle bonus checks that will be deposited on Tuesday January 20th for those who are eligible.
-
NOTE: the Hospital agreed to pay the separate $3,000 FT / $1,500 PT lump sum bonus by January 30, so we expect them on the next paycheck. Eligibility for the FT/PT bonus is based on FTE status on December 28, 2025. Top of scale RNs are eligible for both of these bonuses. Reminder that dues arrears will be pulled from the FT/PT bonus payment. Unionly has been disabled to avoid making double payments.
If you have any issues or questions about eligibility please fill out the survey HERE: https://forms.gle/a9KqkNPjyYPiFtkd6. Continue reporting issues! We will do our best to respond within 48 hours. Thank you for your patience and diligence. Local 40 will continue to fight for every dollar that we negotiated for in this contract.
Congratulations to everyone who received their raises today! We worked hard and stood strong together through some very tough negotiations. Have a great weekend!
In solidarity,
Your Local 40 Bargaining Team
